STCLab Deploys Virtual Waiting Room and Bot Mitigation for KONticket in Thailand

STCLab supported Thailand ticketing platform KONticket by deploying two layers of protection for concert ticket releases: NetFUNNEL for virtual waiting room traffic control and BotManager for bot detection. During major ticketing events in November and December, KONticket handled up to 380,000 concurrent users with no service disruption while identifying bot traffic that could have harmed fairness.

Quick Facts

  • Customer: KONticket, Thailand

  • Use case: Concert ticketing under extreme demand

  • Peak load: 380,000 concurrent users

  • Result: No downtime and stable ticketing flow

  • Bot finding: 32% of total traffic identified as bots

  • Notable signal: Over 100,000 abnormal requests from a single IP

The Challenge: High Traffic and Ticketing Fairness

Ticketing platforms face predictable traffic surges when popular concerts go on sale. If too many users enter the booking flow at once, services may slow down, error out, or fail during checkout. At the same time, bots can automate ticket buying and reduce real fan access.

Ahead of major ticket releases in November and December, KONticket prepared a preventive strategy to address both risks:

  • service stability under sudden traffic spikes

  • fairness by reducing ticket bot driven attempts

Solution Layer 1: NetFUNNEL Virtual Waiting Room for Controlled Inflow

KONticket implemented NetFUNNEL to manage peak traffic safely by controlling how many users enter the booking flow at a time.

How the virtual waiting room helped:

  • detects sudden traffic spikes

  • directs excess users to a waiting page

  • admits users sequentially based on available capacity

  • keeps the ticketing journey stable during peak demand

Outcome:
KONticket recorded a peak of 380,000 concurrent users and completed ticket sales without downtime or service delays.

This improved more than stability. By using a structured virtual queue operation plan, KONticket helped real fans participate under consistent conditions.

Solution Layer 2: BotManager for Bot Detection and Prevention

To better understand unfair ticketing behavior driven by automation, KONticket worked with STCLab to analyze bot activity using BotManager.

What BotManager detected:

  • 32% of total ticketing traffic was identified as bot traffic

  • abnormal automation behavior included more than 100,000 requests from a single IP

These signals indicate large scale automated access attempts that could have significantly reduced legitimate user opportunities if left uncontrolled.

BotManager helped KONticket manage this traffic so that real customers could retain fair access during ticket releases.

Result: Stable Ticketing and Improved Trust

With NetFUNNEL and BotManager working together, KONticket achieved:

  • stable ticketing operations during extreme traffic surges

  • reduced risk of bot driven unfair purchasing behavior

  • better overall user experience during high demand events

KONticket plans to continue strengthening a ticketing environment where real users can purchase fairly, while reducing the impact of scalping and illegal resale.
